Club Avanti is our loyalty programme which rewards you when you travel with us.
1. All about our definitions (what we mean)
First of all, let's explain what we mean when we use these words or phrases:
“Avanti West Coast”, “we”,
“us” – means First Trenitalia West Coast Rail Limited trading as Avanti West Coast, a company established in the UK. Our registered office address is 8th Floor, The Point, 37 North Wharf Road, London, W2 1AF.
“Club Avanti” - means the loyalty programme operated by Avanti West Coast.
“Club Avanti Tier Level” means a Membership tier level in the Club Avanti loyalty programme.
"Member” “Membership” and “Membership Account” - and “Membership Account” - means a member or membership of Club Avanti.
“Membership Card” - means the Club Avanti membership card given to you by Avanti West Coast. It’s in digital format and will be sent to you in your Welcome email.
“Membership Year” – means the 12 month period from the date you join and each 12 month period from the anniversary of that date.
“Partner” - means an organisation which provides services, offers and other benefits to Members.
“Qualifying Journey ” - means a single journey greater than 75 miles, booked between two Avanti West Coast calling points and using a ticket valid for travel and with a reservation on an Avanti West Coast service which counts towards progress on our Club Avanti Tier Levels, as described in further detail in paragraph 4.
“Reward Ticket” - means an Avanti West Coast train ticket (either an Advance Ticket or a First Class Ticket) issued by Avanti West Coast as a reward for Members in qualifying Club Avanti Tier Levels.
2. All about Membership (what you need to know)
2.1. If you apply for Membership, we’ll assume that you’ve read and accepted these terms and conditions. It’s important you use your full legal name when you apply. You must be 16 or over. Membership is for individual people only, not entities such as companies or associations.
2.2 If you’re unable to apply online and need special assistance to apply or book a journey then please visit https://www.avantiwestcoast.co.uk/travel-information/plan-your-journey/assisted-travel for further assistance and contact details.
2.3. Avanti West Coast’s Conditions of Carriage apply to all travel on Avanti West Coast services. You can read our Conditions of Carriage at avantiwestcoast.co.uk
2.4. Avanti West Coast reserves the right to carry out all reasonable checks to validate the information you provide when you apply for Membership.
2.5. Once you’re accepted as a Member, we’ll send you your unique Membership number and your digital Membership Card. This gives you access to Club Avanti rewards and benefits (including onboard food and drink discounts and more), as described in these terms and conditions and on our website at https://www.avantiwestcoast.co.uk/tickets-and-savings/club-avanti-details
2.6. You must tell Avanti West Coast of any changes to your personal information as soon as possible by updating your account on avantiwestcoast.co.uk. If you’ve changed your name, we’ll need the details in writing so there’s no confusion. Please email Club Avanti at clubavanti@avantiwestcoast.co.uk with your new details, plus valid proof of the change.
2.7. You can only hold one Membership account at any one time.
2.8. Your Membership will start from the date you register for a Club Avanti Account.
3. All about Club Avanti Tier Levels (how high can you go?)
3.1. Your Club Avanti Tier Level (Silver, Gold or Platinum) depends on the number of Qualifying Journeys you complete in your current Membership Year. You can find details of Club Avanti Tier Levels and how they work at https://www.avantiwestcoast.co.uk/tickets-and-savings/club-avanti-details
3.2. You’ll be moved to a lower Club Avanti Tier Level if you don’t make the required number of Qualifying Journeys for your Club Avanti Tier Level in during your Membership Year. We’ll give you plenty of notice of any changes to your Club Avanti Tier Level.
3.3. If you qualify, you will be upgraded automatically to the next Club Avanti Tier Level at any time during your Membership Year. You’ll keep your new Club Avanti Tier Level for the rest of that Membership Year, plus the following Membership Year.
3.4. When a Membership Year ends, you can’t carry Qualifying Journeys over to the next year to stay at the same Club Avanti Tier Level.
3.5. Avanti West Coast, may, from time to time, change the number of Qualifying Journeys needed to qualify for each Club Avanti Tier Level. We will inform all Members in advance of any changes.
4. All about Qualifying Journeys (how to earn yours)
4.1. Unless these terms and conditions say otherwise, once you’re a Member you’ll earn one Qualifying Journey for every Avanti West Coast ticket you buy for journeys greater than 75 miles, booked between two Avanti West Coast calling points and using a ticket valid for travel and with a reservation on an Avanti West Coast service. Ticket types include Advance Purchase, Anytime and Off-peak journeys, and also includes journeys booked with a Rail Card. Family tickets will count as one Qualifying Journey only, no matter how many people are travelling. A return ticket counts as two Qualifying Journeys, but split tickets are excluded. 4.2. Journeys in First Class or Standard Premium have the same value as Standard Class journeys. You can earn a maximum of two Qualifying Journeys per day. If you book an Anytime return ticket, we’ll credit the return journey up to 28 days after your outbound journey.
4.3. Subject to paragraph 2.2., only journeys purchased via avantiwestcoast.co.uk or the Avanti West Coast mobile app will count as Qualifying Journeys. Please note that tickets bought at Avanti West Coast ticket office counters and ticket machines, onboard ticketing machines, and other station ticket offices are all excluded.
4.4. Qualifying Journeys must be booked using the email address registered to your Club Avanti account. Qualifying journeys will be registered to your Club Avanti account automatically on the day you travel.
4.5. Please note you can’t earn Qualifying Journeys when travelling on a Super Off Peak and, or any Season ticket for Avanti West Coast services.
4.6. If you choose to cancel your ticket and the ticket gets refunded, the journey will no longer be a Qualifying Journey. However, you will earn a Qualifying Journey if your train is cancelled.
4.7. If you think your Qualifying Journey information is incorrect, you must tell Avanti West Coast within ninety days of the relevant date of travel. Please send details of the discrepancy and any supporting documents to clubavanti@avantiwestcoast.co.uk.
4.8. If you’ve used an Avanti West Coast voucher for the full cost of your booking, your booking will count as a Qualifying Journey.
5. All about redeeming Reward Tickets (how you win big)
5.1. After you’ve completed nine Qualifying Journeys within a Membership Year, we’ll give you one free return journey in Standard Premium Class and after completing 21 Qualifying Journeys within a Membership Year, you’ll receive one free return journey in First Class.
5.2. You will receive the voucher for your free return journey automatically by email when you have completed the required number of Qualifying Journeys. Reward vouchers are valid for 365 days from issue. You will need to book and make your outbound journey within this period.
5.3. Reward Tickets entitle Members to one free return journey, booked using two single Advance tickets available on Avanti West Coast operated services only booked between two Avanti West Coast stations. You can find the Avanti Route Map here at https://www.avantiwestcoast.co.uk/where-we-go/our-routes/our-route-map. Reward tickets must be redeemed at avantiwestcoast.co.uk or via the Avanti West Coast mobile app at least 7 days before travel. (all other Advance tickets terms and conditions apply).
5.4. Reward Tickets have a nil value and do not qualify for Delay Repay refunds and are subject to availability.
5.5. You can change your Reward Ticket once before departure at no cost. All changes are subject to availability. Once issued, Reward Tickets are non-refundable. If you decide not to use your Reward Ticket, the Qualifying Journey credits you used for that ticket will not be credited back to your Membership account.
5.6. You can’t transfer Reward Tickets to another person or Member. They also cannot be sold to any third party.
5.7. Journeys taken on Reward Tickets do not count as Qualifying Journeys. Click here for a quick step guide on how to book your reward ticket.
6. All about redeeming your 10% Welcome discount (how we like to say hello)
6.1. The 10% discount is a one-time only offer when you become a member of Club Avanti. It will be sent to you in your Welcome email.
6.2. The 10% discount is valid for two Advance tickets (or one return journey) only on Avanti West Coast operated services in Standard Class and Standard Premium Class. You must use the voucher and make a booking within 90 days of the date of your Welcome email. No cash alternative is available. Advance tickets terms and conditions apply.
6.3. Journeys must be purchased via avantiwestcoast.co.uk or the Avanti West Coast mobile app. Journeys purchased through station ticket offices or ticket machines are excluded.
6.4. Tickets purchased with a 10% discount will count as Qualifying Journeys.
6.5. The 10% discount excludes Season Tickets and may not be used for bookings in conjunction with other offers or discounts issued by Avanti West Coast or National or Local Railcard discounts.
7. All about redeeming your free hot drink (milk and sugar?)
7.1. The free hot drink is one-time only offer and will be sent to you when you become a Member. This offer is valid for use within 365 days of the date of your Welcome email. No cash alternative is available.
7.2. To claim your free hot drink, present your unique PIN code (which you’ll automatically receive in your Welcome email) to Avanti staff in the onboard shop. You can do this on your device or print it out if you prefer.
7.3. You may only claim one hot drink per Member. All hot drinks listed on the onboard shop menu are included. This offer is not available on our At Seat Service.
8. All about redeeming your 10% Onboard Shop discount (what do you fancy?)
8.1. As a Member, you’ll receive a 10% ongoing discount on food and drinks in the onboard shop. This offer is valid for the whole lifetime of your Membership.
8.2. Your 10% discount applies to all products on the Shop menu. There’s no minimum or maximum purchase.
8.3. To claim your 10% discount on food and drinks, just present your Membership number (included in your Welcome email) to Avanti staff in the onboard shop . You can do this on your device or print it out if you prefer. Click here for a quick step guide on how to book your reward ticket.
9. All about Partner offers
9.1. We’ll be offering Members special offers via selected Partners. We’ll make you aware of these offers via our dedicated newsletters. Partner offers may change from time to time.
10. All about ending your Membership (info you need to know)
10.1. You may terminate your Membership at any time by emailing Club Avanti at clubavanti@avantiwestcoast.co.uk in writing of your decision. Any unused Membership rewards will be cancelled when you do this.
10.2. Avanti West Coast reserves the right to reject your application for Membership, immediately terminate your Membership, cancel any Qualifying Journeys you’ve accrued and any unused Reward Tickets purchased, disqualify you from future Membership of Club Avanti or take appropriate legal action if you:
10.2.1. do not meet the criteria required for Membership;
10.2.2. carry out any fraudulent activity in connection with your Membership application or during your Membership. This may include attempting to accrue Qualifying Journeys by altering documentation, using tickets purchased by any person other than the Member, using or attempting to use stolen or counterfeit tickets or attempting to accrue Qualifying Journeys more than once for the same journey; or
10.2.3. commit a breach of these terms and conditions and/or the National Rail Conditions of Travel. For example, if you sell or attempt to sell Reward Tickets to a third party.
10.2.4. If someone else attempts to abuse the terms of conditions set out in the above terms then your Membership to Club Avanti may be suspended or terminated.
10.3. In the event of the death of a Member, Avanti West Coast will close the relevant Member’s account and such Member’s Qualifying Journeys and any Reward Tickets booked shall be cancelled.
10.4. Avanti West Coast reserves the right to amend, cancel or replace the Club Avanti programme and/or amend these terms and conditions with reasonable notice to you. We will assume you accept any changes to the Club Avanti programme or to these terms and conditions if you continue to use your Membership account, or if you do not raise any written objection within 30 days of us telling you about the changes. You’re free to terminate your Membership in accordance with paragraph 14.1 if you do not agree to any changes to the Club Avanti programme or to these terms and conditions.
11. All about everything else (nearly there now)
11.1. Except as otherwise provided, Avanti West Coast shall not be liable for any loss or damage suffered by you as a result of any change to or cancellation of the Club Avanti programme or these terms and conditions. This includes any changes or cancellations we make in order to comply with applicable laws or with the decision of a court of competent jurisdiction.
11.2. Avanti West Coast is not responsible for and accepts no liability for the actions of Partners or third-party railway operators, including any changes such Partners or third parties may make to their terms and conditions or the benefits made available to you as a Member.
11.3. Avanti West Coast reserves the right to audit Members’ accounts and records without notice to the Member to check for compliance with these terms and conditions, the Avanti West Coast Conditions of Carriage and any other applicable rules, regulations or terms and conditions. During an audit a Member may be unable to make bookings.
11.4. Avanti West Coast shall at all times handle your personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws and its privacy policy, available at https://www.avantiwestcoast.co.uk/about-us/policies-and-procedures/privacy-policy.
