Over Christmas and New Year (24 December 2019 to 1 January 2020) there’re changes to some of our trains due to planned improvement works by Network Rail. We strongly recommend you plan your journey in advance, make a reservation and check before you travel.
Here's a summary of Avanti West Coast services by destination:

On 27, 28 December and Wednesday 1 January, Avanti West Coast will be unable to serve Edinburgh Haymarket, as services are diverted between Carstairs and Edinburgh, extending journey times.
Services between London and North Wales
A reduced service will be in place between London Euston and North Wales on 27, 28 December and 1 January. No services will be in place to/from Wrexham.
No Avanti West Coast services will operate from Shrewsbury on 27, 28 December and 1 January.

London Euston - Glasgow Central or Edinburgh services via Birmingham will terminate at Crewe (for trains North) and Preston (for trains South). Customers travelling between Birmingham/Wolverhampton and stations North of Crewe will have the option of travelling on rail replacement coach services.
Rail replacement services will operate in both directions between the following stations, extending journey times:
- Crewe - Preston
- Crewe - Warrington Bank Quay - Wigan North Western
- Warrington Bank Quay - Wigan North Western - Preston
We recommend you plan your journey in advance, make a seat reservation and check the National Rail Enquiries and Avanti West Coast websites before travelling.
