Travellers can see where each of the Avanti West Coast train services is by entering the route details into our Live Train Status tool.

The Avanti West Coast team aims to update passengers about any service cancellations as soon as possible. These updates will be sent out via station information boards, tannoy announcements, on the Live Train Status page and via the app.

There are a range of factors which may lead to delays in train services. This may include adverse weather conditions, staff shortages, technical issues or disruptions on the line. If your service has been delayed by more than 15 minutes, you may be entitled to a repayment.

You can find out the times of the first and last train on any Avanti West Coast route by entering your departure and arrival station into our Train Times tool.

If your train is cancelled, you can find specific information about the reasons why and what to do next via the Journey Checker. Usually, your tickets will be valid to travel on the service scheduled before or after your cancelled train on the same route.

If you’ve missed your scheduled train due to a delay on another Avanti West Coast service, you may be entitled to a repayment.

Missing the train as a result of other travel delays won’t be eligible for a repayment from us. Check the reservation terms on your ticket to see if you can take an alternative service. If you’re unsure, check with a member of the station team or go to Help and Support page.

To avoid missing your train, you may be able to change your journey times and dates ahead of your scheduled service.
