Need some extra muscle to get your luggage to your destination or help climbing aboard? Find out about how we make travelling with your luggage easier.
You can bring a maximum of three items of luggage onboard with you, providing you're able to carry it all yourself*. Your largest bag should not exceed 30 x 70 x 90cm in size. To make best use of our onboard luggage storage, it may be best to bring two small cases rather than one large one.
Luggage must be able to be stored safely onboard, never blocking aisles, doorways or seats, and please make sure you can get on and off the train safely with your bags.
Just like on a plane, small bags can be stored under your seat and small/medium suitcases should go in the overhead luggage racks. Our large luggage stacks should be used for cases that won't fit overhead.
*If you have a disability or reduced mobility, you can book Passenger Assist for help getting on and off the train.
For larger suitcases that won’t fit overhead (not exceeding 30 x 70 x 90 cm), we have luggage areas near the internal doors on each carriage.
Medium-sized cases and large bags – around the size of aeroplane cabin-luggage – can be stored above your seat on our luggage racks.
Small cases, shopping bags and handbags can all fit under your seat.
For the safety and comfort of our passengers, we can’t allow any baggage to obstruct doorways, walkways and vestibules, or to be placed on seats intended for others.
During our busiest times – Friday evenings, weekends and throughout the festive period – there are more passengers travelling with luggage. If possible, we ask that you travel light with just a cabin luggage-sized bag. You’ll help everyone’s journey run more smoothly, and you’ll have an easier time getting on and off the train.
