Trains to Manchester Art Gallery

Art is something to be celebrated, and Manchester Art Gallery is a place where you can discover everything there is to love about art from all periods. With Avanti West Coast trains, you can visit Manchester Gallery on your time and within your budget.

How to get to Manchester Art Gallery by train

Where is Manchester Art Gallery within the city? The Manchester Art Gallery is located on Mosley Street, right next to Chinatown. If you’re arriving at Piccadilly Station, walking there would take 10–15 minutes, but there are Metrolink trams available from the station to St Peter’s Square, which is pretty much outside the door of the gallery.

What to do at Manchester Art Gallery

Manchester Gallery is full of things to see and do with special exhibitions, projects and events. The gallery’s mission is to be an inclusive place of art for the people of Manchester and beyond. The art collection includes more than 46,000 pieces by classical and modern artists, comprising nearly 13,000 pieces of fine art, while another 13,000 are crafted art such as ceramics, and 21,000 pieces are costumes, clothing, or textiles. While everything isn’t on display all the time, there are regular events and exhibitions to let people admire the art they are most interested in. Check out their What’s On Guide here.

Visit on a Thursday or Sunday and you can take a tour with a volunteer guide. The guide creates the tour themselves and guides you through their interests with stories and ideas along the way. A guided tour is a fun way to see something new on your trip to Manchester Art Gallery.

After all of that art, you might be hungry. The Gallery Café features a full seasonal menu, highlighting sustainability and locally sourced food. Food options are available for various diets, including those for vegans and vegetarians.

Getting to Manchester Art Gallery

Travel to Manchester for a day full of culture and art at Manchester Art Gallery. Near to Piccadilly Station, you can get an Avanti West Coast train straight there. And, once you've finished in the art gallery there is so much more to see and explore in Manchester.
