How to get to Molineux Stadium

It couldn’t be easier to get to Molineux Stadium. It’s within walking distance of Wolverhampton Station, around a 15-minute walk. You can also take the Metro, if you’re travelling from elsewhere in the city. Wolverhampton St George’s is the closest Metro station to Molineux, approximately a 10-minute walk away, whilst multiple bus routes serve the stadium including some which pass Wolverhampton Station.

What to do at Molineux Stadium

Molineux is the home of Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers, commonly known as Wolves, and has been since 1889. The stadium hosts Wolves’ home games, as well as a range of other sporting events. It has hosted England international matches, and the first UEFA Cup Final in 1972.

About Molineux Stadium

The stadium’s unusual name comes from Benjamin Molineux, a local merchant who purchased the land on which Molineux House and later, Molineux Stadium would be built on in 1889. It was the first stadium built for use by an English Football League Club, and was also one of the first stadiums in the UK to have floodlights installed, in 1953. Molineux underwent a multi-million pound renovation in the early 1990s, making it one of the most modern stadiums in England at the time.

While Molineux Stadium is predominantly used for sporting events, it has also welcomed music into the venue on several occasions. Bon Jovi and Rod Stewart are two of the famed artists to have played to music lovers of the Midlands since the early 2000s. It has also become a great venue for hosting local music events including Motown and soul nights.

When travelling to and from concerts at Molineux Stadium, you can easily access Wolverhampton Station in just 15 minutes on foot, with convenient connections to other stations around the UK available from here. Alternatively, Wolverhampton’s Metro network is also a great option for getting to concerts at Molineux Stadium or travelling around the city if you’re planning on staying after the gig.
