How to use your Disabled Persons Railcard
If you’re buying tickets online, select your Railcard from the drop-down menu to receive your discount. If you’re buying your train tickets in person, present your Railcard at the point of sale and we’ll knock 1/3 off the price for you. Be sure to bring your Railcard with you when you travel so you can present it on-board.
Railcards aren’t refundable. However, if your train is delayed, you can get compensation withDelay Repayif your train is delayed by 15 minutes or more. If you book your train tickets directly through us you’re eligible for Automatic Delay Repay, so you don’t even have to apply for compensation and we’ll process a claim for you automatically within 24 hours of your journey.
It’s quick and easy to renew your Railcard online. Just head to theDisabled Persons Railcard siteand log in within 30 days of your card’s expiry date. Check that your details are correct, pay for your renewal and enjoy great savings for another 12 months!
It’s just £20 for an annual Railcard, and you’ll save ⅓ on all train tickets booked during that year. If you travel a lot, it’s worth getting a three-year Railcard for £54. Enjoy the same great discounts and make your initial investment back even faster than if you bought three individual annual Railcards.
There are no restrictions on using your Railcard so you can use it to save money on any train journey at any time!
You can qualify for a Disabled Persons Railcard if you:
receive Personal Independence Payments (PIP)
receive Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
the higher or lower rate for the mobility component or
the higher or middle rate for the care component
have a visual impairment
have a hearing impairment
have epilepsy
receive Attendance Allowance or Severe Disablement Allowance
receive War Pensioner's Mobility Supplement
receive War or Service Disablement Pension for 80% or more disability
buy or lease a vehicle through the Mobility scheme
When applying for your Railcard, you’ll have to show proof of eligibility. You can find a list of suitable documents to show this on the Disabled Persons Railcard site
Eligible children can also apply for a Disabled Persons Railcard and while the Railcard doesn't offer discounts on child fares, it’ll allow one person travelling with the cardholder to get ⅓ off their train ticket.
