Cut your travel costs with Family or Child tickets
Family tickets are great if you’re booking as a family. These tickets are for family groups from one adult and one child to a maximum of two adults and three children.
Child tickets are for children aged 5 – 15 and save you 50% on the cost of a normal ticket.

Children under five can travel free of charge with a fare-paying adult. Just so you know, they won’t have a seat reservation and may need to sit in your lap.
Older children aged 5-15 will need a ticket. However, you can save 50% on the cost of a normal Standard Class ticket when you book.

Alternatively, buy a Family & Friends Railcard and save 1/3 on adult fares and 60% on kids’ fares. It costs £30 a year, or £70 for three years. You can use it for up to four adults and up to four children aged 5-15.

Family fares are subject to availability. If they're not available for where you want to go, you can still get a discounted price using your Family & Friends Railcard. However, Railcards are not applicable to Family Fares.
