Whether you love stretching your legs in an aisle seat, watching the world go by at the window, or getting on with some work at a table, our Seat Picker allows you to choose your favourite railway seat. Tailor your train journey to your preferences when you book directly with Avanti West Coast either via our app or website.

How to reserve a seat

After booking your tickets you have a wide selection of preferences. These include choosing the direction you’d like to face in, whether it be an aisle or window seat or the choice of wanting a plug socket, table seat or easy access to a toilet. You can also choose a quiet coach if you’d like peace and quiet on your journey.

Download the Avanti West Coast App for quick and easy train bookings, wherever you are. You can make seat reservations on the app, whether you’re planning a trip in advance or taking a spontaneous journey. What’s more, you can download mobile tickets directly onto your phone, so you don’t need to print or carry paper tickets. Simply show your phone at the ticket barrier then jump on the train and relax for a stress-free journey.




How to amend your seat reservation

Decided you want to change your seat?
Want to have a different view, need to be nearer a plug socket, want to be closer to the shop? Here's how:*

Seat Picker   
  1. Log in to 'My account' via our website
  2. Go to 'My bookings'
  3. Click 'Manage booking' - You must have booked an Off-Peak or Anytime ticket type – seat amendments aren’t currently available for Advance tickets.
  4. Click 'Change seats'
  5. Select the train you wish to amend seats on
  6. Select a new seat and 'Save selection'.
  7. Login to your account here
  8. *Ts & Cs apply

Essential information when amending your seat
after you've purchased your ticket
"T's & C's"

    You can change your seat via our seat picker after you have purchased your ticket but:
  1. You must choose a seat on the same train.
  2. You must have booked direct with us via our website or app.
  3. You must have booked an Off-Peak or Anytime ticket type – seat amendments aren’t currently available for Advance tickets.
  4. You must have selected for your ticket to be delivered as an Eticket (not printed at the station).
  5. You must not have booked an Open return*
  6. Once you have chosen your new seat please be aware you will receive a new Eticket and the previous ticket will no longer be valid.

    *Sorry, at this time you won't be able to change your seat reservation via our website if you have bought an open return. We are working to make sure this feature is available as soon as possible.
