Choose the digital Railcard to download to your phone and start using it straight away. If you choose a physical Railcard, you’ll need two people to sign the card before you can use it. When you’re ready to head out for your next family adventure, bring your card with you to present on-board, or show it to our staff when you buy your tickets and we’ll reduce the fare for you.
Railcards aren’t refundable. However, if your train is delayed, you can get compensation with Delay Repay if your train is delayed by 15 minutes or more. If you book your train tickets directly through us you’re eligible for Automatic Delay Repay, so you don’t even have to apply for compensation and we’ll process a claim for you automatically within 24 hours of your journey.
A Family & Friends Railcard costs just £35 for the year and gets you 1/3 off adults fares and 60% off kids tickets. If you think you’ll be doing a lot of travel over the next few years, it’s worth investing in a 3-year Railcard - rather than paying £35 per year, you’ll just pay £80 for the full three years, leaving you with more money to spend on train snacks!

It can’t be used for First Class travel unless you choose a First Class weekend upgrade, and it can’t be used for Season tickets. It’s also not eligible for use when travelling between two stations inside the London and South East area during morning peak times.
It couldn’t be easier to renew your card online when it’s within 30 days of its expiry date, simply head to the Family & Friends Railcard site and log in. Check all your details are correct then pay for the renewal and keep enjoying your discounts for another year!
Two adults can be named as cardholders on your Family & Friends Railcard and although they don’t need to travel together, you do need to travel with at least one child aged between 5 and 15 to qualify for the discount.
The minimum group size is one adult and one child, and the maximum is four adults and four children. You don’t need to be related, so it’s great for fun days out with friends. Kids under 5 travel completely free of charge, and each adult can have up to two under-5s with them - but if there’s only one child in the group and they’re aged under 5, you will have to buy them a child ticket to be eligible for the discount.
If your child turns 16 before the 1-year Railcard runs out, they can still travel at the discounted rate for as long as the card is still valid. If they turn 16 before your 3-year Railcard expires, they can travel at the discounted rate until the day before their 17th birthday. Anyone accompanying the named Railcard holder and travelling under the group discount must stay with them at all times.
