Getting from London Euston to Shrewsbury by train
People travel from London to Shrewsbury to visit the castle, experience its medieval streets, and watch
matches by local club Shrewsbury Town FC. You’re also likely to visit on business, thanks to the thriving tech
sector in the town.
Shrewsbury is located in Shropshire and is its second-largest town, behind Telford. It’s only 10km from the
Welsh border and has long had strong transportation links with the country, partly because it was a hub for the wool
industry.
The “Heart of Wales” rail line starts in the town and heads south all the way to Swansea. Shrewsbury is at
the end of a western branch of the West Coast Mainline, connected directly to Wolverhampton. You’ll likely step off
the train approximately three hours after leaving London.

on Castle Foregate. This continues from Castle Street, running through the town centre.
There’s also a bus station across the road, where plenty of local services terminate, as well as a car park

Most of Shrewsbury’s historic town centre is located in a huge meander of the River Severn and the station
