What to expect

The Commonwealth Games are returning to Glasgow this summer as the Scottish city hosts the global multi-sport event for the second time. Taking place from Thursday 23 July to Sunday 2 August 2026, Glasgow 2026 will bring together around 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories for 11 days of world-class sport, entertainment and city-wide celebrations. Events will take place across four iconic venues within an eight-mile corridor, creating an exciting festival atmosphere throughout the city.

The Games will feature 10 sports, including athletics, swimming, netball, cycling, gymnastics, boxing and 3x3 basketball, alongside the largest integrated Para sport programme in Commonwealth Games history. Venues include the Scottish Event Campus, Tollcross International Swimming Centre and the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome. Visitors can expect a packed programme of medal events, fan zones and live entertainment as Glasgow once again transforms into one of the world’s biggest sporting stages.
