Travelling with a bike
From your daily commute to your weekend away, as public transport pairings go, Avanti West Coast and cycles go hand in hand.
But, pause your pedals - because before you set off on your journey you'll need a bike reservation.
They're free of charge, help to keep access on and off the train clear, and ensure your bike gets to your chosen destination and back with ease.
For more information on which bikes we allow on board, how many bikes are allowed on each train and more, please see our FAQs below.

Tips for travelling by train with a bike
Arrive early - If you’re booking a bike space, make sure you give yourself plenty of time before your train's departure.
Loading your bike - You’ll need to be let into the cycle area to store your bike, so contact a member of staff, let them know you have a bike booking and they'll help you onboard.
Getting off the train - Speak to the Train Manager when you board the train, let them know when you’re getting off and they’ll arrange for someone to help offload your bike from the cycle area.
You won’t be able to wait in the cycle area during your journey.
Storing your bike at the station
If you’re looking for a way to store your bike at the station while you travel, you’ll find our Bike Hubs at Rugby, Coventry, Birmingham International and Preston stations. The hubs are fully-enclosed, with 24-hour key-fob access, and they’re CCTV monitored for extra security.
Some of our Bike Hubs also offer bike hire and maintenance where possible, as well as access to exclusive changing rooms, and easy access to the station platforms. There are 200 spaces for storing bikes at each station - all the more reason to break out the helmets and Lycra.
Bike Hub costs just £5 to join. All you need to do is give us your name, email address and show some identification and we’ll get you registered for a Bike Hub fob. Speak to a member of our station staff to find out more.
