How to get to The Den Stadium
There is no car parking for visitors to Millwall FC stadium, so the best way to get to The Den is by public transport. Several buses will take you to the stadium, including the 21, 53, and 172, which go to Old Kent Road, the 1 and 1381 to Rotherhithe New Road, and the 47, 188 and 225 to Surrey Quays. If you want to take the train to see Millwall FC play, then the closest overground station is South Bermondsey, which is roughly a 5-minute walk away. Surrey Quays overground station is another option for a Millwall FC train station, approximately a 20-minute walk, whilst the nearest underground station is Canada Water. From London Euston, you can get to The Den in less than half an hour by taking the Northern line to London Bridge, then taking the train to South Bermondsey.
What to do at The Den Stadium
The Den is the home of Championship team Millwall Football Club, and it plays host to the club’s home games. Most visitors to the stadium are there to see Millwall - or The Lions, as they’re known to their fans - play against other Championship teams and local London rivals like West Ham FC and Crystal Palace. The stadium has also hosted several international football matches, as well as rugby games and boxing. In 2008, the stadium hosted the Samaritans Celebrity Soccer Sixes, with around 150 celebrities taking part including Amy Winehouse and Tony Hadley.
You may recognise The Den from appearances in TV shows like Dream Team, a Sky One show about fictional Premier League team Harchester United. It has also appeared in adverts for Nike and Kit Kat.
About The Den Stadium
The Den, sometimes known as The New Den to distinguish it from the stadium it replaced, was completed in 1993. The stadium has a capacity of 20, 146 although this is restricted to 18, 100 to ensure crowd safety.
