Ibrox Stadium

How to get to Ibrox Stadium

Getting to Ibrox is easy from Glasgow city centre. From Glasgow Central to Ibrox, the most convenient method of travel is by using Glasgow’s Subway station. From either Buchanan Street or St Enoch stations, both of which are within easy walking distance of Glasgow Central, take the Subway to Ibrox station. This should be roughly a 10 to 15-minute journey, and then the stadium is just a short walk away.

There are also plenty of bus routes that serve Ibrox (check FirstBus to plan your journey), and there is car parking directly opposite the stadium at Albion car park.

What to do at Ibrox Stadium

Ibrox is the home of Rangers FC. As well as hosting Rangers’ home games, it has also played host to various international football games over the year, and it’s acted as the home venue for the Scottish national football team 18 times when Hampden has been unavailable.

It also hosted the rugby sevens games during the 2014 Commonwealth Games and has been used as a music venue multiple times, hosting artists like Elton John, Frank Sinatra and Rod Stewart.

About Ibrox Stadium

Ibrox Stadium has a capacity of 50,817, making it the third-largest football stadium in Scotland behind Celtic Park and Hampden Park. There’s been a stadium on this site since 1899, formerly known as Ibrox Park. It was almost entirely rebuilt after the Ibrox disaster of 1971, in which 66 football fans died, and the new stadium was opened on 19th September 1981 with an Old Firm game between Rangers and Celtic. It continued to be renovated and updated over the years and was renamed Ibrox Stadium in 1997.

Concerts at Ibrox Stadium

Ibrox Stadium has also become one of Glasgow’s finest outdoor music venues, with several international artists playing to the crowds here. Used since the 80s for live music events, it has welcomed Simple Minds, Rod Stewart, Frank Sinatra, Elton John, Bon Jovi and most recently, Harry Styles.

Whether you’re travelling from central Glasgow or further afield, using train travel for getting to concerts at Ibrox Stadium, as well as Glasgow’s subway network, are the most convenient ways to get to the stadium. Simply hop on the subway to Ibrox station and enjoy a short walk to the venue. With the subway running from Ibrox until 23:40 every day except Sunday, you’ll also be able to easily get back into Glasgow after the concert finishes.
