Trains to Coventry

The story of Coventry

Coventry was the UK’s City of Culture 2021, and it’s easy to see why.

The city was hit hard during World War 2 but bounced back with fortitude, and in the 1970s and 80s was in the spotlight for the ska revival with 2 Tone Records and The Specials forming here. Now it’s a bustling, cosmopolitan city that welcomes visitors with open arms – so maybe it’s time to discover more about how to get Coventry.

Things to do in Coventry

Let’s get the ball rolling at Coventry Transport Museum, where the strange and spectacular are showcased with everyday vehicles through the years. Cracking on with the cultural exploration, there’s also the Watch Museum, the Herbert Art Gallery and the Music Museum – each offering a snapshot of the city’s cultural importance.

Coventry’s cathedral site is another must-see. The remains of the 14th-century building are a reminder of the city’s wartime toll, and the 1950s cathedral next door is a testament to its regeneration.

Just on the outskirts of the city are Coombe Abbey Park – an immaculate, wide-open garden, and Go Ape – tree-climbing, zip-wiring fun for all ages. The medieval Warwick Castle stands 10 km to the south and is packed with mesmerising history and thrilling events. You can use your train ticket to get 2for1 entry and it’s amongst many other 2for1 deals on West Midlands attractions.
