Poulton-le-Fylde Station

Situated in a small market town in Lancashire, Poulton-Le-Fylde is a relatively large town, with over 18,000 inhabitants. Located just a stone throw away from the larger settlements of Blackpool and Cleveleys, Poulton-le-Fylde is often frequented by holidaymakers on their way to the coast.

Just over 14 miles away from Preston, Poulton-le-Fylde is easily accessed along the A585 and is only a short distance from the River Wyre, which feeds into the Irish Sea at Fleetwood.

A popular town for holidaymakers wishing to stay away from the major hustle and bustle of neighbouring Blackpool, Poulton-le-Fylde boasts a number of good bars and eateries, as well as hotels, hostels and B&Bs.

The town’s train station can be found just moments away from the Jean Stansfield memorial park and St Chad’s Church, which both offer greenery and a chance for respite after a long train journey. Taxis are easily accessed from the conveniently placed taxi rank outside the station’s main entrance and a bus stop can also be found directly across the road.

Nearby eateries include Cube Bar Kitchen, the Thatched House public house and Pulci Pizza takeaway. The Golden Ball Hotel and No. 9 Wines also offer drinks and refreshments.

Originally opened in 1840, Poulton-le-Fylde station as we know it today officially opened in 1896 after it had to be moved to a safer part of the track following an unfortunately fatal accident in 1893.
