Travelling from Lockerbie?
Lockerbie is a small Dumfries and Galloway town with countryside close by, and a place of national significance in recent Scottish history.
Dryfesdale Lodge Visitor Centre sits beside the memorial and garden of remembrance connected to the 1988 Lockerbie disaster. Inside, the exhibition lays out the story through photographs, documents, and personal accounts, while the landscaped grounds outside are set up for a quiet walk before you travel.
If you want fresh air, Eskrigg Nature Reserve is a wooded reserve on the edge of town with marked trails through mixed woodland and open clearings. It’s easy to fit in a short loop walk, then head straight back towards the station.
Lockerbie Station provides essential amenities for travellers, ensuring a smooth start to your journey. Its convenient location makes it easy to explore the town before you depart.
Travelling to Glasgow?
Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city, with a mix of grand Victorian architecture, major museums, and neighbourhoods that are easy to explore on foot.
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is one of the headline visits, with rooms that move from major paintings and sculpture into design, armour, and natural history. You can dip into a few galleries or spend longer and still feel like you’ve covered a lot in one stop.
For a different side of the city, Riverside Museum sits by the River Clyde and focuses on transport and engineering, with large-scale displays that are easy to take in even on a shorter visit. Nearby, Merchant City is a good area to wander afterwards, with its busy streets, cafés, and restaurants.
Glasgow Central Station’s location makes it easy to start your adventure immediately. With excellent transport links, you can quickly reach the city's top attractions and cultural landmarks.
