Travelling from Northampton?
If you arrive early, Northampton has a few standout places that are easy to fit in before you travel. Take a walk through Abington Park, the town’s most popular green space, with lakeside paths, open lawns, and plenty of room to stretch your legs before you travel. If you want to add a bit of history to the walk, the park also includes the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery, which is easy to dip into for a quick visit.
For something more spacious, Delapré Abbey gives you history and open parkland in one place. You can walk the grounds, explore the walled garden, and turn it into a calm start to the day before heading to the station.
Getting to Northampton Station is straightforward. Local buses and taxis make it easy to arrive from across the town and nearby areas. In the station itself, you’ll have the practical essentials covered too, with ticketing facilities, places to wait, and step-free access to help you get set for departure.
Travelling to London?
If you want to start exploring London on foot, the area around Euston gives you plenty within a short walk. The Foundling Museum is a great example of a smaller, more distinctive museum visit, with art and objects that tell the story of the Foundling Hospital. It’s the kind of place that works well for an hour or two, without needing a full-day plan.
A little further on, Charles Dickens Museum lets you step into a Georgian townhouse on Doughty Street, with rooms set out around Dickens’s life and work. It’s a rewarding stop if you want something classic and characterful, and it sits neatly among the streets and squares of Bloomsbury.
From London Euston, onward travel is easy. Taxis and buses are close by, and the Underground gives you quick links across the city. In the station itself, you’ll have the practical essentials covered too, so you can get your bearings and head straight out into London.
