Colwyn Bay Station

An incredibly picturesque journey brings you to Colwyn Bay station, as the North Wales Main Line follows the coastline for long stretches of its route between Crewe and Holyhead. Arriving doesn’t disappoint either, with wide-spanning views of beaches stretching in either direction and the Irish Sea just beyond.

Colwyn Bay station opened in 1849 and was part of the network which brought many Victorian holidaymakers to this beautiful stretch of the coast. The beach is one of the main draws it’s true, and arriving straight onto the promenade, the town centre is just a few minute’s walk away. 

If you’re willing to continue the journey, you’ll find Rhos-on-Sea with its 6th-century St Trillo chapel a short bus trip along the promenade, and Penrhyn Bay is just beyond the headland. Colwyn Bay station is also the closest train station to the Welsh Mountain zoo, one of North Wale’s top attractions.

Colwyn Bay station facilities include toilets, a car park and bicycle storage, and customer service support. The whole station has step-free access, including a train access ramp, accessible toilets and available wheelchairs.

Colwyn Bay station has two platforms. Westbound trains depart from platform 1 and eastbound trains depart from platform 2, which is accessed via a footbridge with stairs and lifts.
