Penrith (North Lakes) Station

As its name suggests, Penrith North Lakes Station is located in Cumbria, north of the Lake District’s largest lakes. Penrith lies just south of nearby Carlisle, which can be reached in half an hour by car and under twenty minutes by rail. A car park and cycle storage are available on site for those travelling to the station by road or bicycle.

Although a relatively small town, Penrith North Lakes station benefits from a central location just minutes away from the town’s castle park, which offers a great chance for respite after a long rail journey.

Not far from the station lie numerous modern amenities including several shops, bars, cafes and hotels. Notable guest houses include the Station Hotel and The Agricultural, whilst large fast food chains and supermarkets are also within just a few minutes walk away, including American burger giant McDonald’s and national supermarket chains such as Morrison’s and Iceland.

A public phone box is located directly outside of the station’s main entrance and taxis are readily available. Built in 1846, the station currently lacks a cafe, but its close proximity to other shops and vendors barely makes this an inconvenience.

The station can easily be reached along Ullswater Road, the A592, which lies just minutes from the M6 motorway. ALong this road, Manchester International Airport can be reached in under two hours, whilst Newcastle International Airport is also just an hour and a half away by car.
