Major upgrade work this Easter

29 March to 1 April 2024

We strongly recommend you travel either side of the Easter weekend (29 March to 1 April). No trains will run to and from London Euston station over Easter while Network Rail carry out improvement work, and other parts of the West Coast Main Line are also affected. If you do need to travel, please plan ahead and make a reservation, as your journey will take much longer.

No trains to or from Euston station

From 29 March to 1 April, journeys to London will change:

  • Avanti West Coast trains to London will end at Milton Keynes Central station
  • Replacement buses will take you to Bedford station
  • From there you can catch a train to London St Pancras, just down the road from Euston

Travelling from London? Connect to Avanti West Coast services via the route above, but in reverse.

Or you may be able to get a direct train from another London station. For example, trains to Birmingham go from London Marylebone with Chiltern Railways. Trains to Edinburgh run from London King’s Cross with LNER.

Travelling to Scotland or the North West?

From Saturday 30 March to Monday 1 April, replacement buses are running between Crewe, Warrington, Wigan and Preston. This is due to Network Rail’s improvement work in the Warrington area.

On Easter Sunday (31 March), replacement buses will also run between Preston, Lancaster, Penrith and Carlisle while work is carried out between Preston and Oxenholme.
