The Avanti West Coast Price Promise
We take pride in the fact our website and app will always have the lowest priced tickets for journeys on our trains. Not only that, we'll give you free WiFi and you'll never, ever pay booking fees when you buy your tickets through us.
Our promise applies to like for like tickets. That’s the same journey at the same time, with one ticket taking you all the way. If you originally booked your ticket via our website or app, then find a cheaper, publicly available price online within 24 hours of booking, we’ll refund the difference in price. So long as it’s for the identical ticket, you'll get money back.
If you find a cheaper Avanti West Coast ticket for the same journey and ticket type on another website, we will refund the difference - that's our price promise.

How our Price Promise works
Our promise applies to like for like tickets. That’s the same journey at the same time, with one ticket taking you all the way. If you originally booked your ticket via our website or app, then find a cheaper, publicly available price online within 24 hours of booking, we’ll refund the difference in price. So long as it’s for the identical ticket, you'll get money back.
Split tickets
Split ticketing is when you 'split' your journey into multiple tickets instead of buying one single ticket. For example, if you were travelling to Manchester Piccadilly from London Euston, you might buy one ticket from London Euston to Milton Keynes and then another ticket from Milton Keynes to Manchester Piccadilly.
We can’t guarantee to refund the difference if you split the tickets for your journey and buy two or more to cover different stages of the route. Split ticketing may appear cheaper on some websites but most of the time they'll charge booking fees on top of the ticket price which we never do.
And, if you really want to split your tickets, you can do that via our website or app - just decide how to split out your journey, select the two tickets (or stages of your journey), add them both to your basket and checkout.
Promotions
We can’t guarantee to match a special promotion price, but we do have our own sometimes, so it’s worth keeping an eye out.
What you need to know
- You must have purchased your original ticket via the Avanti West Coast website or Avanti app. This means if you bought your ticket via trainline and then find a cheaper ticket elsewhere, you must go back to trainline to claim the difference in price. If you originally booked via a third party website (e.g. Trainline) and then find a cheaper Avanti West Coast ticket on another site, you will have to return to the original site on which you bought your ticket (e.g. Trainline).
- You can't claim against tickets that have a discounted or negotiated price that isn't available to the general public.
- You can't claim price disparities due to fluctuations, rounding, or differences in currency exchange rates.
- You can't claim if the ticket price you've seen is part of an Avanti West Coast promotion available through avantiwestcoast.co.uk, Avanti West Coast app, or thetrainline.com and Trainline app. These include but are not limited to: seat sales; First Class seat sales and flash sales.
Please be aware when making your claim:
There is a 24hr time limit
- Refund claim emails must be received by Avanti West Coast no later than 24 hours after you purchased your train ticket(s).
- Avanti West Coast is not responsible for any Price Promise guarantee refund emails which aren’t received or are delayed in transmission beyond our reasonable control.
Evidence must be provided
- Avanti West Coast reserves the right to verify evidence of the lower online fare available for purchase at the lower price.
- You must supply sufficient evidence of the payment stage of the website where you found the ticket at a lower price, showing the identical ticket type, origin, destination, routing, class, number of passengers, Railcards, date and time, and fulfilment type. Associated fees must also be shown.
- Evidence must show that the lower online fare was found within 24 hours of the avantiwestcoast.co.uk or Avanti West Coast app booking.
- Any decision by Avanti West Coast on the validity of a claim will be final.
Refunds can take up to 28 days
- If your claim meets the requirements described above, a refund of the difference between the purchase cost of each qualifying ticket on avantiwestcoast.co.uk or the Avanti West Coast app and the cost of the lower online fare will be credited within 28 days of the claim, having been verified by Avanti West Coast.
- The refund of the difference between the purchase cost on avantiwestcoast.co.uk or Avanti West Coast app and the total cost of the lower online fare is the sole and exclusive compensation that will be made to qualified claimants who show that Avanti West Coast failed to meet the Price Promise guarantee.
Claims must be made online
- You can only make a price promise claim online.
- Claims can only be made via email to customer.resolutions@avantiwestcoast.co.uk.
- You must make sure you complete the email accurately. Any incomplete or inaccurate refund claim emails will be invalid.
