When can I buy Off-Peak tickets?
Off-Peak tickets usually go on sale 12 weeks ahead. Off-Peak ticket prices stay the same, so it doesn't make a difference when you book.
When can I travel with an Off-Peak ticket?
If you have an Off-Peak ticket, you need to travel on an Off-Peak train. If you need more flexibility than that, check out an Anytime ticket.
When do Off-Peak trains run?
Off-Peak times depend on the route you're taking. The easiest way to find out if a train is Off-Peak is by searching for it in our online journey planner. If an Off-Peak ticket is available to buy for that service, it's Off-Peak.
Great news: from Friday to Sunday, and on bank holidays too, almost all our trains are Off-Peak. The exception is trains between London Euston and Milton Keynes Central on Fridays, which retain their Peak and Off-Peak departure times.

Peak times for most trains leaving London Euston are Monday to Thursday 04:30 to 09:25 and 15:01 to 18:45. Almost all trains are Off-Peak Friday to Sunday, excluding those between London Euston and Milton Keynes Central on Fridays.

Off-Peak times for most trains going to London Euston are 11:30 to 23:59. Peak times for most trains going to London Euston are Monday to Thursday 05:00 to 11:29. Almost all trains are Off-Peak Friday to Sunday, excluding those between London Euston and Milton Keynes Central on Fridays.

We’ll always offer you an e-ticket where possible, but not all tickets can be sent digitally. If you’re travelling with a train company who doesn’t use e-tickets or you’ve added a travel extra like a bike reservation, you’ll need to collect your paper ticket from the station.
Your ticket will be accepted on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before or immediately after your booked train.
Your seat reservation can't be carried over to another service, but we have unreserved coaches on all our trains to help you find a seat.
If a cancellation means you no longer want to travel, your unused ticket is eligible for a full refund.

Seat reservations will be offered where available. We’ll let you know if you have a reservation (and give you the option to change it) at the review stage of your booking.
Off-Peak times vary depending on the route you’re travelling but are generally outside of traditional rush hours. The easiest way to find out if a train is Off-Peak is by searching for it in our online journey planner. If an Off-Peak ticket is available to buy for that service, it's Off-Peak. With Avanti West Coast, Friday to Sunday is always Off-Peak (except between London Euston and Milton Keynes on Fridays).
Off-Peak tickets have flexibility built in, so you can already take any Off-Peak train on the route and date(s) you’ve chosen. If you need to change something more, it’s best to refund your original ticket and rebook. Find out more on our Refunds page.
Break of journey is allowed on selected routes. You can pause and resume your journey at stations on the route between the start and end point of your ticket.
